The rise of electric vehicles has had a large impact on the automotive industry, with sales for these types of vehicles skyrocketing in recent years. As more and more drivers switch to electric models, the demand for fuel grade ethanol is also changing drastically. This type of ethanol is typically produced from corn or other grains through a process known as fermentation which is then distilled into a specific percentage of concentration. The increased demand for electric vehicles has led many producers to start shifting their focus away from fuel grade ethanol and towards other sources such as battery production. This could have serious implications for this market as less investment leads to slower advancement in terms of both cost-effectiveness and technology. It also means that alternative sources of fuel grade ethanol such as sugarcane and algae may not be developed quickly enough to keep up with increasing demand. At the same time, there are still many advantages that traditional fuels offer over electric power in certain situations such as longer range and more consistent performance even under extreme conditions. For this reason, it is likely that vehicle manufacturers will continue to use some type of internal combustion engine while transitioning towards electric power sources.
